Our Charities

Wingrave are proud to support the below animal charities and the fantastic work they undertake in the local area.

Cats Protection:

From humble beginnings in 1927, Cats Protection (CP) has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. They now help around 218,000 cats and kittens every year through their network of over 250 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and two homing centres.

Their work doesn’t stop there, as they also provide an array of cat care information via publications, their website and helpline and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care. They promote the benefits of neutering to prevent unwanted litters from being born and becoming the abandoned cats of tomorrow.

At Wingrave we have been providing veterinary care for both the Sutton and Cheam CP branch for twenty years and the Epsom CP branch for twelve years. Both these branches help, rehome and rescue cats locally. We know all the local volunteers and fosterers, and like them are always pleased when a cat finds their new perfect home!

Diamond Riding Centre:

Wingrave are the proud sponsors of Samson (pictured) at Diamond Riding Centre, Carshalton. Samson is a 16.2hh heavyweight cob and he joined Diamond in 2003. Sampson is now 20 years old and is the head of his herd at Croydon Lane. He is an ideal RDA horse and is a gentle giant!

As part of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), The Diamond Riding Centre provides disabled children and adults with the opportunity to ride and for some carriage drive for the benefit of their health and well being.

With 30 horses and ponies, Diamond Riding Centre is one of the largest purpose built centres in the UK providing unique facilities for disabled children and adults to enjoy the therapeutic and recreational benefits of horse riding.

They rely solely on donations, sponsorship and fund raising events to cover all their costs at the centre. Our sponsorship helps us support the valuable work The Diamond do, by providing Samson with food and bedding, and covering his veterinary charges and farrier fees.

Guide dogs:

Wingrave care for a number of guide dogs in Surrey and we are proud to support this fantastic Charity.

Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDBA) commit to providing a guide dog for life and a guide dog owner may have up to eight dogs in their lifetime.

Our practice is proud to help and look after many guide dogs with their veterinary care, from healthchecks and vaccinations to medical procedures and operations.

GDBA has been breeding and trainning guide dogs for more than 75 years, helping many thousands of blind and partially sighted people of all ages and from all walks of life .

Having a guide dog provides the owner with mobility, freedom and of course a canine companion. The picture above shows a few of the dogs we care for and was taken in our garden at the Epsom surgery.

Croydon Animal Samaritans:

Croydon Animal Samaritans have been helping and rescuing animals since 1974. They have many volunteers all working hard to rescue, foster and rehome all animals taken into their care.

Contrary to what their name suggests they cover about a five mile radius of Croydon.

They always have many animals that are desperately in need of loving homes. If you are not able to offer a home, you can still help by sponsoring any of the cats and dogs they look after that they have been unable to home.

They rely on donations, fund raising and sales from their shop to support the work they do and so here at Wingrave we are pleased to support them by having charity books and handmade knitted mice for sale. Pick one up next time you visit any of our surgeries.
